Feel like your younger self again, boost your energy and slow down aging.

However, at this juncture of life also, the time when you should be reaping the benefits of your hard work, there can be a sharp decline in energy levels, preventing you from achieving your goals or performing at your best. Many times, this decrease in energy is caused by hormonal imbalances.

Are There Health Problems Associated with Hormonal Imbalances?

What many people are not aware of are the health problems that come with hormonal imbalances. In fact, when this happens, an individual can experience a myriad of problems including, but not limited to, chronic fatigue, lack of motivation, mood swings, decreased libido, hair loss, and increased weight gain. Many people who are experiencing hormonal imbalances typically mention that it’s challenging to get out of bed in the morning.

What are the common signs and symptoms of hormonal imbalances in men and women?

Hormone Replacement Therapy Can Help!

Bioidentical Hormone replacement therapy is quickly becoming one of the most common treatment options for men and women suffering from hormone imbalances. While there are many different forms of hormone replacement therapy, at the core, the goal is to introduce new hormones into the body, replacing old hormones that are no longer operating as intended.

For women, after menopause, the body no longer generates specific hormones anymore. At New You Wellness Center, with hormone therapy, we can help treat common postmenopausal symptoms. In fact, there have been numerous studies that have proven that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help prevent bone loss and even reduce fracture in women post-menopause.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Women

In the female human body, the two most common hormones are progesterone and estrogen. Both, together, play a pivotal role in the female’s body ability to reproduce. In fact, estrogen is responsible for the release of eggs whereas the progesterone focuses more on the implantation of the eggs.

Now, when a female ages, naturally, the human body stops generating eggs. As this happens, the estrogen levels follow suit, resulting in a hormonal imbalance. Many times, this happens to women in their 40s; however, there are many different factors that can alter this. When estrogen levels in the human body begin to decrease, this is when females start to experience hot flashes and other related symptoms.

At New You Wellness Center, we have a few different hormone replacement therapy options for women:

  • Estrogen-Only Hormone Replacement Therapy: This is strictly for women who have undergone a hysterectomy, where the body no longer needs progesterone.
  • Cyclical Hormone Therapy: This type of hormone therapy is typically suggested for women that are concurrently menstruating. This type of HRT includes both estrogen and progesterone; however, they are taken on a cyclical basis.
  • Continuous Hormone Therapy: When a woman is done with menopause, continuous hormone therapy is often the prescribed treatment. This includes both types of female hormones – and is taken over time.
  • Local Estrogen: This is typically used for women that are experiencing vaginal dryness and/or irritations.
  • Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men

Often times, when people refer to hormone therapy, they only refer to women. However, like women, as men age, the human body naturally stops producing normal levels of testosterone. Testosterone is one of the most important hormones for a male, as it’s responsible for male sexual development, reproduction, muscles, bone density, and much more.

When a male stops generating normal levels of testosterone, it can lead an individual to a decrease in muscle development, increase weight gain, tension or aggression, and decreased libido. This is what we refer to as low T symptoms.  The best way to diagnose whether or not you have low t levels is to visit New You Wellness Center and receive a testosterone level test.

With that being said, there are a few different types of hormone therapy for men:

  • Testosterone Patches: These are patches that men can place onto specific areas of the body. These help to stimulate more growth of testosterone in the male body.
  • Testosterone Injections (T Shots): T Shots, or testosterone injections, are testosterone injections that an individual receives on a biweekly, or once per three weeks. These are often recommended for men that have a substantially ‘low t’ count.
  • Testosterone Gel: This is simply a gel that a man can apply to their shoulders or abdomen, helping to stimulate more testosterone.

In hormone therapy, there are two different types of hormones that can be used: bioidentical hormones and synthetic hormones. Bioidentical hormones are created to match human hormones on a molecular level. Do note, these are not individually prepared for each patient, but rather created by an official compounding pharmacy.
